From October 20th, 1993 until July 2011, 472 patients suffering from Syringomyelia, Arnold Chiari I Syndrome and Scoliosis have undergone surgery by means of the section of the filum terminale.

Satisfactory progress has been obtained by the majority, without major complications except in two cases.

Recently I have asked the patients to express their opinions in this forum and to whom I am grateful for their frank and unselfish involvement.

All of the patients who have contributed here their personal experience, have done so in the hope of informing patients like themselves to help them find the way to cure their diseases.

In April 2007, a group of twelve Italian patients who have undergone surgery by the section of the filum terminale, have formed a forum for patients (http://siringomielia.forumup.it/) who suffer from Syringomyelia, Arnold Chiari I Syndrome and Scoliosis. I congratulate the promoters of this idea and appreciate the help that they have provided to other patients and their magnificent contribution in giving hope for the cure of these diseases.
